AsbestosZip is a joint venture between Solution Overall for India (SOS) India Pvt ltd, India and Asbestos Safety Training (AST) Ltd, United Kingdom; a unique partnership between a leading Green Ship & Ship Recycling Consultant and UK-HSE approved Trainers for Licensed work with Asbestos.
We offer services for Ship Owners, Ship Managers, Ship Building Yards, Ship Repair Yards & Ship Recycling Yards. By leveraging our two owner's strong organizations we offer the credibility, skills, resources and experience needed to provide a full-service offering.
The aim of AsbestosZip is to enable a shift in Asbestos Awareness from Civil to sea; through cost-effective, safe, and environmentally friendly practices. Many Stakeholders lack complete knowledge and are catering to unauthorized vendors for the removal of Asbestos from their Ships.
Ever since the EUSRR came into force on 01st January 2021, all the vessels above 500 GT registered with Europe or any Ship registered in a third-world country, calling Europan Ports must have an Approved & Updated IHM Onboard.
As per an estimation, more than 50% of these IHM are positive with Asbestos Containing Material (ACM).
"Planned repairs or removal of ACMs should be carried out by specialist personnel and not normally by the ship crew. In cases where the crew is involved in urgent repair work at sea, special measures should be observed. Procedures should be developed for the safe retention of any waste asbestos on board the ship before it can be transferred and disposed of ashore."
