Asbestos Management Plan

An asbestos management plan is required to provide documentation of the recommended asbestos response actions, the location of asbestos within the Ship, and any action taken to repair or remove the material. The Ship Staff/Managers/owners must maintain records to be included in the Asbestos Management Plan.

• List of the name & particulars of the Ship and whether the Ship has Asbestos Containing Material, and the type of asbestos-containing material;

• Method & Date of the Detection;

• The plan for re-inspections, operation, and maintenance;

• A Location Diagram that clearly identifies the location;

• A description of any response action or preventive measures taken to eliminate or control asbestos exposure;

• The name, address, and telephone number of the “designated person on shore;

• A training program for ship staff about inspections, re-inspections, response actions, and periodic surveillance.
